The Need to Know on Inverter Welder Machines

Inverter welders are much smaller than your normal welding machine, but create the same welding results as other much larger welding units. The reason an inverter welder can be more compact, and yet render the same outcome is due to the increase in power frequency from an on/off switch called the IGBTs.

The IGBTs is a high powered semiconductor that is capable of coping with high levels of arc welding. This is done by changing the AC power to DC by switching or inverting the DC power into a decreased transformer. Which simulates the increase and decrease of a magnetic field thus creating an secondary electrical current, but at a much higher ratio. That way the desired welding current or voltage can be achieved.

The inverter welder is about the size of a carry-on suitcase or briefcase, and is lightweight. Making it very portable and easy to carry from job to job. Unlike the conventional welder machines that have to be transported on dollies or rolled around the job site. Because it is compact it makes it easier when having to work in small areas that do not have a lot of elbow room.

You can't beat the efficiency of this welder either. It can be plugged into any traditional 110v power source, which is a more common current in your household. So, it uses less electricity and makes it more economical. Most other welding machines require a 220v, which is a much more uncommon household power source, and the use of an industrial sized generator making it harder to accommodate in tight fitting areas.

Due to the smooth arc, stable welding current and small spatter the inverter welder makes it more efficient when in use at both low or high level currents. Also, they are comprised of smaller cooling fans, meaning less power for streaming cooler air, which again gives you greater efficiency. In addition, it has an increase of tolerance for “dirty power” from generators than conventional welders, thus cutting down on bad welding, and you will have a decrease in the time you may spend on a job. Which would sound pretty good to some folks.

This welding machine is constantly monitored by computer software, so it can adjusts the current and voltage when your in the process of welding, resulting in a consistent arc. As a result, welding supplies like welding wire, shielding gas and electrodes last longer.
